10-year jubilee of Kazatomprom

Kazatomprom- Kazakhstan national atomic company celebrated its tenth anniversary. The delegates from USA, Japan, South Korea, Canada, China, France and Russia - potential investors or partners for development of Kazakh uranium - have arrived to Alma-Ata to take part in the jubilee summit. Many of them came with business proposals.

Kazatomprom president Mukhtar Dzhakishev declared: "Now we are negotiating with Toshiba company to buy Westinghouse Electric Co' shares. It will help Kazatomprom to become full vertical -integrated company with own nuclear-fuel cycle".

Today Kazakhstan is the second country in the world on reserves of uranium ore, uranium mining is about 4000 tons a year. Kazakhstan plans to increase uranium mining five times by 2010. Kazatomprom together with Russian colleague has established the Center for uranium enrichment. It is already new prospects of nuclear market.

The first deputy director of Russian company Techsnabexport Vadim Zhivov said: "In the first place we are interested in mutual integrations, which can result in amplification of our countries on international market".
