Russia, Venezuela sign deal on nuclear power plant construction RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED October 16, 2010 Russia and Venezuela signed on Friday an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power station in the South American country as part of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's visit to Moscow. At Friday's signing ceremony in Moscow, President Dmitry Medvedev said cooperation with Venezuela in nuclear field does not constitute a threat for other countries. "We signed an action plan for 2010-2014 and a number of bilateral agreements, which show the level that our partnership has reached," Medvedev said. The presidents said bilateral ties are strengthening. Chavez arrived in Moscow on Thursday. Chavez's visit is part of his international tour, which also includes Belarus, Ukraine and Iran. He last visited Russia in September 2009 after announcing his country's recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
