Baltic NPP: New sports grounds in Neman district – a gift from nuclear engineers Public Information Center of the Directorate of Baltic NPP under construction, PUBLISHED July 30, 2012 Two modern sports grounds are built in Neman district. This is a gift to local kids from the “Directorate of Baltic NPP under construction”, Rosenergoatom Concern branch company. One of them, which is near Novokolkhozny school, was officially opened last Wednesday. The traditional red ribbon was cut by Sergey Voskovschuk, the Head of Neman municipality administration, and Irina Moreva, the Head of Public Information Center of the “Directorate of Baltic NPP under construction” . “This sports ground is free for anyone. You can play football, volleyball or basketball here. It’s the best place for doing sports and having good fun in the open air,” – says the head of local administration. “We have firm partners’ relations with the directorate of the new-built Baltic nuclear power plant. Everyone cannot but see only positive changes in the life of Neman city and the locality. We expect that nuclear industry will continue supporting the local public and will help to improve the living standards here”. Speaking at the opening ceremony Alexander Aksyonov, a deputy of Neman city council and an employee of Baltic NPP, noted that this nuclear power plant is an ambitious construction project that bears significant social impact, as it involves local community development plans, including the program of municipal education infrastructure improvement. Next step in this direction is to purchase sports equipment for Novokolkhozny school. The cost of this new sports facility is one million rubles. Its builders have used advanced construction materials, which is a big advantage compared with similar existing grounds in the city. For example, the plastic mosaic-type surface is undemanding to maintenance, because its failed pieces can be replaced easily. Today a similar sports ground is under construction at Zhilino village school in Neman district. It will be opened quite soon.
