The works on reinforcing the bed plate of the first facility of the main cooling water system of the power unit No 1 - Unit Pump Station building - started at the construction site of Kursk NPP-2 Rosenergoatom, PUBLISHED 12.11.2018 At the construction site of Kursk NPP-2 replacement plant the works on reinforcing the bed plate of the Unit Pump Station (UPS) building - the first facility of the main cooling water system of the innovative VVER-TOI power unit No 1 - started. The Unit Pump Station is situated between turbine house and evaporative cooling tower. It is designed for provision of the circulation of the cooling water through the turbine condensers with the supply of the heated water to the cooling tower. Before the reinforcing of the bed plate of the UPS building, the artificial foundation bed was built. The personnel of Kurchatov branch of SMU-1 JSC that works at the Plant completed the works on making the foundation mat and have started making the reinforcing of the bed plate. The size of the Unit Pump Station is 48 to 30 metres, the height of the building is 19 metres. This is the most embedded structure among all that are being built at the construction site - minus 13 metres. The underground part of the building is functionally divided into intake portion, turbine house, and auxiliary equipment facility. The width of the bed plate of the Unit Pump Station will be three metres. The specialists are going to complete the reinforcing works till the end of this month and proceed to the concreting of the bed plate of the UPS. Kursk NPP-2 is the replacement plant of the power units of the operating Kursk NPP that are to be decommissioned. It is planned to commission the first two power units of NPP-2 with the new VVER-TOI reactor type simultaneously with the decommissioning of the power units No 1 and No 2 of the now operating Plant.
