Russian delegation and the IAEA hold consultations on ensuring safety of the Zaporozhskaya NPP Communications Department of ROSATOM, PUBLISHED 25.12.2022 Another round of consultations was held between the Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation Aleksei Likhachev and the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi in Moscow on December 22. The Russian delegation was represented by the head of Rostechnadzor Alexander Trembitskiy; Chief of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Igor Kirillov; Head of the General Directorate for Facilities' Security of the Federal National Guard Troops Service Vladimir Mashevskiy; and the Deputy Director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Vishnevetsky. Approaches to the establishment of a Nuclear Safety and Security Protection Zone at the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant were discussed during the meeting. A significant similarity of positions on the draft of the declaration on the establishment of such a zone was noted. Consultations will be continued with the understanding of the need to reach a mutually acceptable text as soon as possible. The parties discussed in detail the situation at the Zaporozhskaya NPP in the context of the task of improving the reliability of electricity and heat supply to the NPP site and the city of Enerhodar. The issues of the work of the IAEA expert mission at the station were also brought up. Both parties regarded the conversation as substantive, useful and open.
