Kalinin NPP has generated 750 billion kWh of electricity since the beginning of operation

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 07.08.2023

Kalinin NPP has generated more than 750 billion kilowatt-hours kWh of electricity since the commissioning of the first power unit.

The nuclear power plant consists of four power units with water-water power reactors VVER-1000 with an installed capacity of 1000 MW each.

The first connection to the grid of the first unit took place on May 9, 1984, and the fourth unit was connected to the grid on November 24, 2011. Thus, for 39 years the Kalinin nuclear power plant has been providing electricity to the central part of Russia.

The electricity produced by the Kalinin NPP throughout its history is enough to fully supply the regions of the center of the country for more than three years.

During the production of a similar volume, more than 360 million tons of carbon dioxide would be released into the atmosphere due to the combustion of organic fuel.
