Monument to A.I.Leipunsky opened in Obninsk

The monument to the physicist Alexander Ilyich Leipunsky was unveiled in a solemn ceremony in Obninsk on December 7, 2023. Earlier, this was reported by the telegram channel "RealAtomInfo".

The opening was timed to coincide with the 120th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Ilyich.

The author of the monument was Salavat Alexandrovich Shcherbakov, a Soviet and Russian sculptor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation and the author of more than 40 monumental compositions.

The concept of the monument, made of granite and bronze, was based on the key activities of the IPPE - the development of fast neutron power reactors, coolants for marine and space nuclear power plants.
