A new pumping station will be built at Zaporozhye NPP

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 10.04.2025

A new pumping station is planned to be built to fill the cooling pond of the Zaporozhye NPP with water from the Dnepr River, which will be needed when the plant is switched to electricity generation mode.

This is reported by TASS with reference to the director of the NPP Yuri Chernichuk.

"The pumping station is a technical solution that will be aimed at compensating for the events of June 2023 - the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovsky reservoir and the loss of a regular design source of recharge for our cooling pond," the agency quotes the director of the NPP.

"We need a cooling pond so that the plant can operate in the generation mode," he said.

Yuri Chernichuk added that these works are also part of a large program to prepare the plant for launch, which is planned after the end of hostilities. He also explained that water from the splash pool located on the territory of the nuclear facility is currently involved in the operation of the plant.

What does management mean? Financial flows, personnel policy, and investment policy can be managed. Technically, the plants will be managed by personnel who are trained in this.
