Russia Welcomes N.Korea Nuclear Test Moratorium RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED March 02, 2012 Russia welcomes the decision by North Korea to hold a moratorium on testing nuclear weapons which will help renew the six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday. The DPRK said on Wednesday that it would limit its activities in the military and nuclear fields and in particular would not test nuclear weapons in exchange for assistance from the United States. "We firmly welcome the DPRK's decision to make a step toward denuclearization, and by the United States in the direction of normalization of relations between the two countries, including the granting of humanitarian aid. We especially welcome the DPRK's decision to introduce a moratorium on nuclear testing and launch of long-range ballistic missiles and also uranium enrichment, which will be controlled by IAEA inspectors," the ministry said. "In this way, in parallel, the parties in the six-party talks on denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula will gradually return to a renewal of negotations," the ministry statement said.
