A batch of MOX fuel loaded into the BN-800 reactor core consists of 18 fuel assemblies. They were manufactured at the Mining and chemical combine (FSUE "GKhK", Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk region) with the use of depleted uranium and plutonium. In 2020, Rosatom plans to load another 180 fuel assemblies into the reactor of unit No. 4 of the Beloyarsk NPP. In 2021, it is planned to form the BN-800 core with a full load of MOX fuel and for the first time in the history of Russian nuclear power to ensure the operation of a fast reactor using only MOX fuel.
