Nuclear icebreaker Yakutia has completed the stage of factory sea trials AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 16.12.2024 The universal nuclear icebreaker project 22220 Yakutia, built at the Baltic USC plant, has completed the stage of factory sea trials. This is reported on the plant's website. The ship sailed to the Gulf of Finland on December 1, 2024. Specialists of the Baltic Plant, together with the crew of the icebreaker and representatives of counterparty organizations, checked the high-speed qualities of the icebreaker, its maneuverability characteristics, the operation of the icebreaker's mechanisms and equipment, automation, communication and navigation systems, tested the steam turbine installation, electric propulsion systems, shaft lines and deck mechanisms (anchor and steering devices). Upon returning, the nuclear-powered vessel was moored at the mooring wall of the Baltic Plant on the Neva River. In the near future, the company's specialists will complete the configuration of the vessel's systems and prepare it for transfer to the customer. The universal nuclear icebreaker Yakutia is the fourth (third serial) vessel of the 22220 project, built at the Baltic Plant. The laying took place on May 26, 2020, and the launch took place on November 22, 2022. Vladimir Putin took part in the descent ceremony.
