416 nuclear units are operating in the world, 63 units are under construction AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 17.01.2025 The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 416. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA. Another 63 units have the status of the being built one. Since the beginning of 2024, five new units have been connected to the grid - Kakrapar-4 (India), Vogtle-4 (USA), Barakah-4 (UAE), Fangchenggang-4 (China) and Flamanville-3 (France). The construction was started on nine new units - ElDabaa-4 (Egypt), Zhangzhou-3/4, Lianjiang-2, Xudapu-2, Ningde-5 and Shidaowan-1 (all China), Leningrad-2-3 (Russia) and Chasnupp-5 (Pakistan). Four units were permanently shutdown - Kursk-2 (Russia), Maanshan-1 (Taiwan, China) and Pickering-3/4 (Canada). Other news: 38 nuclear power units with a total capacity of 29.3 GW are scheduled to be commissioned by 2042.
